The term “galvanized” means that the metal has undergone a special zinc treatment. Essentially, the basic wire is completely coated with a very thin layer of zinc. It is this zinc coating that imparts useful properties to the galvanized wire. Zinc can be applied by actually immersing the wire in a molten zinc bath, or it can be electroplated onto the surface of the wire.
